Istanbul, Turkey — 12.05. 2025 — ERGIL, a global provider of storage tank equipment, process solutions, and emission-control technologies, is pleased to announce the successful engineering, design, and manufacturing of two internal floating roof (IFR) systems for TOTAL Energies’ new storage terminal development in Equatorial Guinea. The project deliveries included full-contact carbon-steel IFRs, heavy-duty Storagetech mechanical seals, and complete tank-top equipment packages meeting the region’s high environmental standards.

The scope covered both a 17,070 mm and a 10,600 mm full-contact IFR, each supplied with vacuum breakers, sampling funnels, manholes, anti-rotation and anti-static assemblies, leg supports, and stilling wells where required. These were equipped with Storagetech primary and secondary mechanical seal systems designed to significantly reduce vapor losses and hydrocarbon emissions. Additional items, including 24” emergency pressure relief valves, peripheral vents, and mechanical level indicators, were also part of the complete package. A second order included another IFR, SS316 stoon traps, joint-link seals, and a 200-liter carbon-steel purge tank, further supporting the operational needs of the terminal.

The project reflects Equatorial Guinea’s strong commitment to environmental protection. The country’s Law No. 7/2003 of 27 November 2003 sets a strict regulatory framework for preserving natural environments—covering air quality, water resources, soil, and marine life. TOTAL Energies’ decision to use advanced Storagetech sealing and floating-roof technologies demonstrates its focus on operational safety, emission control, and adherence to environmental obligations.

Storagetech’s full-contact IFR design offers a highly effective barrier against product evaporation while ensuring long-term reliability. The carbon-steel pan structure, combined with continuous wiper and lip-seal systems, enhances gas tightness and minimizes vapor space—making it an ideal solution for storage terminals operating under stringent environmental and safety requirements.

One of the key advantages delivered in this project was ERGIL’s combined capability as both a tank-equipment manufacturer and a storage-tank designer/fabricator. This integrated expertise allows ERGIL to align equipment design with real tank-engineering needs, reduce potential mismatches, accelerate delivery, and lower overall project complexity. Clients benefit from smoother execution, reduced engineering revisions, and more predictable project timelines.

Commenting on the successful completion, Djouabi Abderrazak, Sales Engineer Africa, stated:

“TOTAL Energies’ trust in Storagetech’s floating roof and sealing technologies underscores how crucial reliability and environmental performance are in today’s terminal operations. By supplying fully engineered IFR systems rather than isolated components, we provided the client with a complete, seamless solution. We are proud to contribute to a project where emission reduction, safety, and long-term durability are top priorities.”

ERGIL and its Storagetech product lines continue to support global operators with high-quality storage-tank solutions, emission-control technologies, and proven engineering expertise across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
