Why Do You Need Pressure Vacuum Valve?

Liquids are mostly carried or kept in the closed vessels or tanks, some reasons such as evaporation or weather conditions may cause the fluctuation at the pressure level in the vessels or tanks. Vessels or tanks that filled with liquids must have an opening points through which the accumulated pressure might be released and vacuum in the tank or vessel compensated. For that, Pressure Vacuum Valves are provided with weight-loaded or spring-loaded valve discs. In the case of overpressure in the tank, the overpressure valve disc guided in the housing is lifted and releases the volume flow into the atmosphere. When there is a vacuum in the tank, the overpressure of the atmosphere lifts the vacuum disc and the tank is vented.

Pressure Vacuum Valve is fitted on a tank roof flange or pipe that connects to the vapor space of a storage tank. In the closed position the weight-loaded pallet and diaphragm assembly is held tightly against a seal to prevent the loss of vapor to atmosphere. As the internal pressure in the tank reduces, due to emptying, the balance between the tank pressure and the external atmospheric pressure changes, and when the set pressure of the unit is reached, the diaphragm will open to admit air and rebalance the internal pressure.
